Yellow Belt Creed:
I come to you with (Karate) empty hands. I have no weapons; but should I be forced to defend my principles, my honor or myself… Should it be a matter of life or death, of right or wrong, then here are my weapons — Karate — my empty hands.
About the Yellow Belt Techniques
The Yellow Belt techniques introduce the student to the four major principles of the Kenpo Method of Motion—Marriage of Gravity, Torque, Back-up Mass and Borrowed Force. Delayed Sword incorporates direct torque and marriage of gravity while Sword of Destruction demonstrates counter torque and marriage of gravity. Deflecting Hammer incorporates back-up mass. Mace of Aggression teaches marriage of gravity. Obscure Wing shows students how to use all of the hinges of the arm while flowing from one strike to the next. Lone Kimono teaches the student the concept of borrowed force—following the push back when pushed and Mace of Aggression teaches the opposite—to utilize the energy forward when pulled. From this starting point each successive technique in the curriculum adds more sophistication and complexity to movement as the student progress up the belt hierarchy.
